West Ham 1-0 Chelsea, match report


Reigning Champions Chelsea took on West Ham at The London Stadium this afternoon, a big London derby, kick off being at half 12.

Chelsea having an 8 game unbeaten record were looking to secure a 9th win in a row against Moyes’ side. West Ham were going into this game knowing they had to secure all 3 points as they are currently sitting 19th in the table only gaining 10 points out of all league games.

Both teams lined up strong as they were both seeking to get all 3 points. Home side West Ham lined up with Adrian, Zabaleta (c), Reid, Ogbonna, Cresswell, Obiang, Noble, Arnautovic, Lanzini, Masuaku, Antonio substitutes- Hart, Rice, Fernandes, Sakho, Ayew, Chicharito, Carroll.

Chelsea lined up with Courtois; Azpilicueta, Christensen, Cahill (c); Zappacosta, Bakayoko, Kante, Fabregas, Alonso; Hazard, Morata substitutes- Caballero, Rudiger, Ampadu, Moses, Willian, Pedro, Batshuayi.

West Ham got off to a cracking side against visiting side Chelsea where they wasted no time as Marko Arnautovic secured a goal in the 6th minute of the game. Where he got booked a few seconds later for celebrating in the crowd.

Chelsea were struggling to break down West Ham’s defence and it was their game to chase. Chelsea were quite slow within the first half and weren’t having many clear cut chances. It finished 1-0 at the break, Chelsea knew they would half to shape up and go for it in the second half in they wanted to get all three points.

Second half was under way and Champions side Chelsea took off Bakayoko and brought on Pedro, this possibly being a tactical decision made by Antonio Conte. Chelsea continued to chase the game trying to grab every chance they could but West Ham continued to try and catch them out on the counter attack. Then Chelsea decided to make a 2nd change of the game as Marcus Alonso made way for Victor Moses.

The game continued to be a disappointing one for Chelsea fans as West Ham were still dominating. In the 63rd minute of the game Zappacosta then made way for Willian.

In the 82nd minute of the game Chelsea’s Morata was very close to scoring for the blues but failed at a very clear cut chance. Chelsea still chasing that break through to get a goal. Then Chelsea had what looked like there last chance of the game where Chelsea’s number 10 Eden Hazard missed a chance which went flying over the top of the net.
