Emma

Hartley

I'm so excited to announce that I now have my own website. I'll be sharing all football content centred around Chelsea football club. This is the start of something new and I'm so excited to share this with you all. This is completely new to me but let's go :)

Being a Chelsea fan

To class myself as a Chelsea fan makes me so proud. Supporting one of the best football teams in England and in the world is an absolute honour.

People always ask me ‘’so when did you start supporting Chelsea Emma, where did it all start from for you?’’ I’ve been a Chelsea fan all my life, always a blue. My Dad is a massive Chelsea fan and he has supported them all his life he was there when Chelsea were s***. It was just right I followed on and I wouldn’t have wanted to support any other team but, my beloved blues. It’s just one of them things that gradually happens, you don’t just wake up one day and say ‘I now support Chelsea’ you just become a fan through your loyalty, dedication and pride. I would say my main supporting days started from 2009 when the likes of Alex, Deco, Ballack, Cole and many others were there. I watched every game when Chelsea were playing I just got engrossed in the beautiful game that is football. I fell in love with it. Football is everything to me, it’s my life.

The best ever game I have watched has got to be when we won the Champions league final in 2012, that unforgettable night in Munich. It just gives me goose bumps even thinking about it. I remember the nerves and excitement I witnessed the entire game and the minute Didier Drogba scored that penalty me and my Dad just burst into tears. It was the first ever time in Chelsea’s history that we had won the Champions league, it’s a night I will remember for the rest of my life. Moments like that will live with you for the rest of your life as a football fan.

As I’ve grown older and older my passion has just grown even more. I love going to watch my team live, there is no better feeling. I go insane at games, I chant so loudly and proud to the extent that I always lose my voice. If I come back from a game and I haven’t lost my voice there is something wrong. Especially on away games I just throw myself around, it’s always scenes and limbs everywhere as I like to say. Stoke away in the 2016/17 season is a game I will never forget Gary Cahill scored a last minute winner the away end just fell. That’s what I love about Chelsea games so much everyone shares the same die hard passion for the club you love, you just feel so right and in the zone being there. I remember literally falling down about 7 rows people don’t believe when I say that. But, I was stood on the end of the row and we fell down the steps and I dragged my knees against about seven seats. I always remember looking at a steward as I fell and he had half a seat snapped off in his hand the away end went that manic but he was laughing. All my legs were bruised so badly the bruises didn’t go for weeks and I lost my voice. But that’s what makes football so special and so unique and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I will also never be able to forget Everton away in the 2016/17 season. We practically won the league that game we all knew it. Even though mathematically on paper we hadn’t it still felt like we had. I lost my voice again at that away game, there’s a surprise. Towards the end of the game I just stood up on my seat and a steward never told me to get down so I carried on. I felt so much pride and passion, it was a remarkable game. I ended up with bruises from that game as well as I had banged my legs against all the wooden seats, also I had also cut my hand and I noticed blood all over it after the game. You wouldn’t expect for that to happen at a football match but that’s why I love that club so much.

That’s just two games of many I’ve made memories at. It’s hard to be even able to sum up in words how Chelsea games make me feel. There is just no feeling like it. The feeling you get waking up on a match day whether you are going to the game or not it’s just insane.

Football has changed a lot for me since I started supporting them back in 2009. It has opened a lot of doors up for me and a lot of things have happened. When I started going to games back in the 2009/2010 season I never really knew anyone but I’ve gradually met some such incredible people through football and made so many friends. I also started off a Youtube channel in January 2016 where I do reviews, previews, Q&A’s and I cover any important Chelsea news. That was the best thing I ever did. I always talk about football so much and I have now connected with people from all around the world talking about the club I support and love with all my heart. It’s truly incredible. I knew it was exactly what I wanted to do and I am going to hopefully going down the football industry as a career route but I will see what the future holds. I have found a passion and love for something. I also have an Instagram account that has just grew and grew ever since I joined I’ve got thousands of followers which is great because I just love sharing my passion for the club along with so many other people. Also to start this blog is something I love doing. I don’t see any of this on social media and all the platforms I have as something ‘I just have to do’ it has grew because I’ve got a passion for it. I want to work for everything I want in life. If I ever reach the top or get there it will be because I have put the time and commitment in. I’m doing something I love but succeeding as an individual with it which is so great. I never thought I would grow as much as I have as a person with all these platforms it has been a rollercoaster and it is hard work but I love it.

I hope one day I pursue this as a career because there is nothing I would rather do, this is for me.

So to call yourself a Chelsea fan is more than just being a fan and going to watch your team play. I hate those people that say ‘why do you like football so much it’s just a few football players kicking a ball round a pitch’. I hate people who say that and, act like it means nothing. It’s more than ‘just a game’. It’s my life, it’s my future and it’s what I adore. Football is an international language that millions of people connect with. You don’t even have to be able to communicate with someone when you watch a football game you know what it means. When you’re at a game and your team score you just go crazy and hug loads of random people in the stand that you’ve never even met before. That’s football it’s the power of the game.

The thing is with bands and singers some may break up and go their separate ways. Others may take a break but football is always there and always will be there. It’s going to keep growing and growing and generation after generation will take over.

Football is something carved inside of me, a part of my heart.

There’s no place I’d rather be than watching Chelsea play at the weekend. It’s literally my life and I wouldn’t have it any other way...

About me and my journey so far...
I'm a 17 year old Chelsea fan with a massive love and passion for football. Football is my life and I love talking and discussing anything associated with football. I started off YouTube back in January 2016 with no YouTube experience what so ever my main aim was to interact with people and share the sport I love with many other people. I just went for it and believed in myself. I am now on 800+ subscribers today and I believe I'm currently there because I never gave up. You face stumbling blocks and face challenges but with commitment and drive you get there. I believe my future lies within the football industry in some shape or form but I'm excited to see what the future will hold. But, my main message that I want to get out there is to never give up. There will be doubters, non- believers and haters but keep doing what your doing and go for what you love. Up the Chels!!
