Stoke VS Chelsea, pre-match report

Stoke take on Chelsea at the Bet 365 Stadium this weekend at 3pm where they will be looking to secure all 3 points. Champions side Chelsea have had a mixture of results so far this season as have Stoke. Chelsea however have had the better mixture of results as they are sitting 3rd and Stoke are currently sitting 13th

Chelsea’s 2017/18 Premier League season didn’t get off to the best of starts as they lost unexpectedly to Burnley at home 3-2 first game of the season which caught all Chelsea fans by surprise as Burnley hadn’t won at Stamford Bridge since 1971. Furthermore, Chelsea especially made it up to the fans in style a week later as they beat Tottenham away 2-1 at their new home ground for the season Wembley. Then a week later they really wanted to prove that Burnley was in fact a blip as they got all 3 points at home to Everton winning 2-0. After all the debate and speculation about Chelsea’s new number 9 Morata he in fact netted his second goal in 3 games for the blues. He certainly didn’t get unnoticed as he got in the first team over Chelsea’s star man Batshuyai. Then there was an international break where Chelsea’s boys had a successful week especially Morata as he managed to net a few goals for his national side Spain. Then Chelsea were back with a bang as they travelled to ex- champions side Leicester at the King Power Stadium where they secured all 3 points by beating them 2-1. The games were coming thick and fast because not only did Chelsea have all their Premier League games they also had the Champions League and League cup to focus on which were all thrown in between which in fact all went to plan as they beat Qarabag 6-0 on the 12th of September and won 5-1 against Championship side Nottingham Forest midweek. Chelsea’s last Premier League game was last Sunday against Arsenal where not everything went according to plan as the blues didn’t manage to secure all 3 points against the gooners as the game ended 0-0.

On the other hand Stoke also, didn’t get off to the best of starts on their first game of the season as they lost 1-0 against Everton away. A week later they clearly wanted to change their bad start to the season as they won 1-0 to Arsenal at home, proving that they are going to be a threat to all sides this season. On the 23rd of August Stoke were determined to win the game as they managed to get a strong 4-0 win against Rochdale at home securing them in the third round of the League Cup. 4 days later Stoke travelled to The Hawthorns where they managed to just get a point against them ending the result at 1-1. The international break passed and Stoke were obviously very prepared for their Premier League home game against Manchester United which we all know have had a pretty good season so far as the game ended in a 2-2 draw. Exactly a week later Stoke travelled to St James Park where they got unexpectedly beat 2-1 by newly promoted side Newcastle. Things seemed to not be going great for Stoke as this Tuesday they got beat by Bristol City who knocked them out of the Football League Cup Third round 2-0.

So this game is a big game for both sides and it’s hard to even predict a score as the Premier League has been proven to be very unpredictable recently. Last season when Chelsea took on Stoke at the Bet 365 Chelsea got a last minute winner as Gary Cahill banged a header in, ending the game 2-1. These games are always very exciting because Stoke are a very good side and Chelsea have proven to struggle against them. Antonio Conte and Chelsea will only settle for a win here but this is a game we need to play good football and get a nice three points.

Chelsea know this is going to be a hard fixture especially when Stoke have recently got good results against big sides.

Chelsea won’t settle for anything more than 3 points tomorrow. They will be very eager after last drawing their Premier League game against Arsenal. It will be an unpredictable game of football.
